Women in Leadership Highlights Potential of Allyship & Inclusivity at G20 Empower

The theme of the G20 Empower, Jan Bhagidari event, and Power of Allyship Advancing Women's Leadership was Allyship and the advantages and opportunities it offers in the workplace.

During the event, Dr. Sangita Reddy, Chairperson of G20 Empower, Past President of FICCI, and Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals Enterprises discussed how increasing the number of women in the workforce can help the world unlock its $27 trillion lever. Dr. Sangita also praised initiatives driven by the government that has had a significant impact on raising the participation of women in the Indian economy. She specifically mentioned about the Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana, in which women hold 54 per cent of Jandhan bank accounts.

The event went into two sessions in which the first session was all about discussing the topic of Allyship in detail, what is the procedure and its effects and side effects for the firm in the long run, and also about the best practices to be followed by others. During the second session, discussions were held on D&I’s Good Business Sense which focuses on how diversity and inclusivity affect work environments.

During the event, women leaders offered some practical suggestions for advancing gender equality at work, including the creation of a balanced workplace environment, enacting policies that encourage speaking out, considering diversity and inclusivity beyond gender, and also the installation of gender-neutral restrooms.
