VP Jagdeep Dhankhar states Women's Representation to Improve in Parliament and Assemblies

By: WE Staff | Tuesday, 5 September 2023

Women will soon receive adequate representation in Parliament and Legislative assemblies through a constitutional amendment, says Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

The VP made this statement while taking part in a dialogue program with students from the Maharani Mahavidyalaya, a school connected to Rajasthan University. The topic of the event was "Women's Participation in Nation Building."

Jagdeep Dhankhar told the students that Women could achieve anything because they are setting new standards for success in every industry, including business, the military, and government.

He urged women to take charge of their own lives and develop financial independence.

VP Jagdeep shared three mantras to the female students, never get stressed because it accomplishes nothing; never be afraid of failure; if you have an idea, put it into action.

He urged young people not to become overly competitive and advised them to make their career decisions on their interests.

He further stated that soon women would receive the proper representation in Parliament and legislative bodies as a result of a constitutional amendment. If Women receive this reservation soon, India will acquire global power by 2047.

Girl's education is a must as they provide benefits not only to their families but to the whole of society.

He highlighted the shift in the nation's perception of women by claiming that he has advocated for a gender-neutral term "chairperson" rather than "chairman" in the Rajya Sabha. He has also appointed 50 per cent of women to the Rajya Sabha Deputy chairperson panel.

While selecting the names of delegation members to travel in India or abroad, he always prioritizes women. Lastly, he claimed that despite numerous attempts to obstruct women's development, society's perception of women is changing gradually.
