At the CII Excon 2023 in Bangalore, V G Sakthikumar, the Managing Director and Chairman of Schwing Stetter India, received the "Committed Leader for Women Empowerment" award.
Women's empowerment in the workplace and gender equality have been actively promoted by Schwing Stetter India. 28 per cent of women are employed on the shop floor at the company's recently opened Global Manufacturing Hub as part of its effort to promote gender equality and women's empowerment.
The facility is designed with all the amenities needed by women in the workforce, such as nearby homes for families, a creche on the shop floor to provide care to their wards, and hostel spaces exclusively for single women. Schwing Stetter India intends to increase the empowerment of women by collaborating with universities to advance the Diploma Engineer employees to the Graduate Engineer workforce as they will work and learn simultaneously.
In order to recruit and retain more women in its workforce, the company has also launched a number of initiatives including a women’s empowerment committee. These include offering opportunities for training and development, encouraging a flexible work schedule, guaranteeing equal opportunities for career advancement and professional growth, and also guiding those women who are interested in pursuing their careers in the STEM field.
