  • UP Warriorz collaborated with Educate Girls, an NGO which aims to improve education accessibility for girl children in needy areas
  • Harun Robert, ‘Rob’, artist and ex-host of the art & craft program MAD, designed the jersey

UP Warriorz partnership with the grassroots organization Educate Girls allows them to support and enable access to Education for girls in Underserved communities.

As part of that partnership, UP warriorz wore a jersey designed by the visual artist Harun Robert ('Rob'), who was a host on the art-and-crafts television show MAD that aired in the 2000s.

The inspiration for the design was taken from the handwritten letters written by young girls throughout India expressing their desire to become pilots, IPS officers, scientists, soldiers, and professional cricketers.

These personal stories were taken and translated into a visual representation through cognitive mapping representing bravery, imagination, and the pursuit of excellence for young women.

During the match played on Saturday at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, UP Warriorz earned their second consecutive victory after going through a three-game winless streak.

The team captain Meg Lanning recorded a score of 70 from 45 balls and Phoebe Litchfield added to the total with her score of 61 off 37 balls to reach a total of 187/6.

On the opposite side of the field, despite solid performances from Amelia Kerr (49* runs off 28 balls) and Amanjot Kaur (41 runs off 24 balls), the Mumbai Indians were limited to just 69/5 with Shikha Pandey (2 wickets for 32 runs) and Kranti Gaud (1 wicket for 30 runs) as two of the top bowlers for the Warriorz.

Currently, the UP Warriorz occupy the fourth position in the points table with a total of 2 victorious games and 3 losses. The next game for the UP Warriorz takes place in Vadodara against the Gujarat Giants on January 22.
