On Tuesday, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath stated that Uttar Pradesh will become the first state in the nation to have 18 "Safe Cities", creating an environment that will ensure safety and security for each resident. He further stated that, in the coming three months, the first phase of developing all 17 Municipal Corporations and Gautam Budh as "Safe Cities" should be completed. The management of funding for this development will be done through interdepartmental coordination.

Next, he included that, 57 district headquarters municipalities should be connected to the Safe City project in the second phase, and the third phase, 143 municipalities should be connected. All of these cities need to be provided a special branding by having a signboard that mentions "Safe City" at the entrance. The Chief Minister hereby claimed that by doing this, Uttar Pradesh will have the most numbers of cities in the nation.

This project aims at improving the security of children, elderly people, divyangjan, and most important women of the state. CM Yogi instructed about the development of all cities while discussing the action plan for the expansion of the Safe City project.

According to him, every woman and every businessperson in the state is safe today but there is a need to ensure high alert constantly. The Safe City projects will also prove to be a solution for women's safety, self-reliance, and dignity.

Modern control rooms, CCTV cameras, Asha Jyoti Kendras, Help Desks, Pink Police Booths, panic buttons in buses, and several other security measures will be implemented in the cities under the Lucknow Police Commissionerate.

The Safe City Project is currently focused on the security of women. It will ensure to create a safe, protected, and empowered environment for women, children, divyangjan and elderly people.
