The state government's ordinance requiring reservations for Women in government jobs was questioned in a petition by the high court, which ordered the government to present a response within six weeks.
For all government jobs, the government has established a 30 per cent horizontal reservation for women in Uttarakhand. The result of the PCS exam, according to the high court, will be taken into consideration while making the final verdict.
The ordinance which ensures 30 per cent horizontal reservation for women from Uttarakhand in the state government jobs was questioned by a resident named Aliya in the high court. She stated that, despite securing a good percentage, she claimed that because she does not carry residential proof, she was not allowed to appear for the PCS 2021 Mains exam.
The 2006 Government order was stayed by the court last year in August mandating 30 per cent horizontal reservation for female candidates in the state. However, this year in January, the Government issued an ordinance to maintain the terms of the reservation.
