In aid of women who work in uniform, a Child Care Centre and Women's Rest Facility has been opened at the UP Police headquarters in Lucknow. The centre, which is on the ground floor of Tower 4 of the Signature Building at Gomtinagar Extension, was inaugurated by Dimple Verma (IAS Retd), Chairperson of Vama Sarathi, the UP Police Family Welfare Association.
Fulfilling the needs of increasing women police personnel, particularly since they have increased appreciably over the past years, the complex offers childcare facility as well as a special resting place. Initiated on orders from DGP Prashant Kumar, arrangements are under way to introduce such centres across all Uttar Pradesh police lines, offices, and stations.
Verma emphasized the importance of the move, saying, "Many women in the force have young children and little help at home. This facility is a small but significant attempt to enable them to balance their professional and personal lives with dignity."
