TVS Motor Supports Women Drivers in Bengaluru with Pink Autos

TVS Motor Company has partnered with She for Society and Taliru Foundation to promote women’s economic empowerment through electric commercial mobility in Bengaluru. The collaboration focuses on creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for women auto drivers.

As part of the initiative, titled “Building Queens from the Grassroots,” the partners launched 16 pink electric autos for women beneficiaries. The program seeks to increase women’s participation in Bengaluru’s commercial mobility sector.

Taliru Foundation identified the 16 women who received the electric autos. The current deployment marks the first phase of a larger program that aims to scale the initiative to 100 vehicles.

Women’s organizations across India have provided financial support for the initiative. The partnership is focused on promoting entrepreneurship, income generation, financial independence and greater economic participation among women through commercial mobility.

Harshini from She for Society said the program seeks to help women achieve greater financial independence through mobility. “Queens Drive is our endeavor to build queens from the grassroots by enabling women to become financially independent through mobility. With the support of women’s organizations across India and our collaboration with Taliru Foundation and TVS Motor Company, we aim to create sustainable opportunities for women auto drivers. These 16 pink electric autos mark the beginning of a larger movement that we hope will empower 100 women and inspire communities across the country.”

According to Chitra from Taliru Foundation, the project is designed to provide the women with income generation opportunities to become self-reliant.  The partners hope the program will show the potential of the cooperation between mobility companies and social organizations for inclusive economic growth. The initiative is also aimed at fostering greater involvement of women in emerging electric commercial mobility in India.
