PM Modi to Address Women's Convention in Odisha on Feb 10
On February 10, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi will give a speech at a large-scale women's convention in the state capital. This will be his second visit to Odisha in a row. One of the two major events that the BJP Mahila Morcha will host before the general election, which is anticipated to take place in April or May, is the women's convention. An estimated 25,000 women from 14 states are anticipated to attend the event. On Saturday, the PM launched the BJP's election campaign from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh.
FinMin report Highlights Female Participation in Agri Sector
The Finance Ministry published a report titled "The Indian Economy: A Review." The report highlights that due to the strength of its financial sector and other recent and upcoming structural reforms, the Indian economy is predicted to develop at a rate above 7 per cent in the upcoming years. According to the report, India's economy can aim to reach $7 trillion by 2030. The female labor force participation rate (FLFPR) in India has been increasing for at least six years, moving from 23.3 per cent in 2017–18 to 37 per cent in 2022–2023 according to the study.
Budget 2024-25 Prioritizes Women's Welfare in Kochi
Sanitha Raheem, the Vice President of the district panchayat of Kochi, presented the budget for 2024–25 on Tuesday. It proposes spending Rs 169.53cr and generating Rs. 173.87cr in total. The budget has prioritized education, women's welfare, and infrastructure development.
It has been recommended that an Ernakulam District Labour Co-Operative Society would be established to carry out the infrastructure projects in a productive and high-quality manner. Under the panchayat, a cooperative society of laborers would also be established and the district's "Smithies" would be redeveloped for Rs 10 lakh.
Budget 2024-25: President Murmu Addresses Parliament Joint Session
India's President, Draupadi Murmu, addressed the joint session of Parliament on Wednesday, marking the start of the Budget Session 2024. PM Narendra Modi was acknowledged by the President for implementing the women's reservation bill, and the President praised the efforts of the Narendra Modi administration. She also praised the construction of the Ram Temple and Jammu and Kashmir's elimination of Article 370. Today’s budget session will begin with the vote on the account, enabling the government to cover expenses until the Lok Sabha election and a regular session.
Khushi Khanijau leads in Women's Pro Golf Tour 2024
At the Tollygunge Club in Kolkata, India, Khushi Khanijau has claimed the lead in the third leg of the 2024 Hero Women's Pro Golf Tour. With a score of 69, she took the only lead after the first round after she birdied the final hole. However, Amandeep Drall finished with a score of 70 after making a triple bogey late in the game.
