Telangana Leads in Highest No of Women District Collectors

  • Women are taking a lead role in administration, development projects, and important governmental initiatives

The State of Telangana has been making headlines about the number of women District Collectors representing all districts.

While many states of India still have areas where men are dominant in the workplace, this state is different, as Telangana has the highest number of women in top-level district leadership positions.

The District Collectors manage the district's overall administration, district development work, and implementation of state's government programs. The trend illustrates a clear message regarding how leadership can be both calm and firm while also being responsive and inclusive.

These women officers are running Complex Districts in addition to responding to challenges and making governance accessible to citizens.

Hari Chandana Dasari is the District Collector of Hyderabad and is a 2010-batch IAS officer in the Telangana cadre. Previously, she served as the District Collector for the districts of Nalgonda and Narayanpet and has been the Zonal Commissioner for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

She currently oversees the complexity of the city's administration and manages and coordinates numerous departments in a fast-paced urban environment.

Pamela Satpathy an IAS Officer from the 2015 batch of the Telangana Cadre, who has made a mark in the fields of Education, Health, and Social Welfare. Prior to her entry into the polity, Pamela worked as a Software Engineer in Infosys and as a Researcher.

As a District Collector, she has also contributed significantly in terms of furthering the cause of Government School Education and Health Services in the District.

Abhilasha Abhinav is currently serving as the District Collector and District Magistrate for Nirmal District. She is an IAS Officer from the 2018 batch in the Telangana Cadre and has been very active in the area of Maternal Health Care through various from the 'Amma Rakshitha' programme.

She achieved AIR 18 in the 2017 UPSC Civil Services Examination and is focusing on empowering Local Governments, supporting Artisans and improving all Public Services.

Pravinya P is District Collector of Sangareddy district and has previously served as District Magistrate for several other districts within the state of Telangana.

She has served as the District Collector and District Magistrate for different districts within the state of Karnataka and Telangana, respectively.

Garima Agrawal is currently serving in Rajanna-Sircilla district as the Additional District Collector (Local Bodies) and has demonstrated her ability to administer the local bodies effectively in Rajanna-Sircilla district.
