Telangana Forms WEEC to Boost Women-Led Businesses Ahead of Summit

By: Women Entrepreneurs Review Team | Tuesday, 3 November 2026

The Government of Telangana has formed the Women Entrepreneurs Executive Council (WEEC) as a part of its preparation for the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026. The summit will be held from December 7 to 9 in Bharat Future City, Hyderabad.

The council, headed by the Women and Child Welfare Minister D Anasuya Seethakka, includes different parties, policymakers, women entrepreneurs, investors, representatives of corporates and industries. The initiative is supposed to assist in developing the current system of support of women-owned businesses and draw more attention to the issues related to women entrepreneurship.

The CEO of WE Hub, Sita Pallacholla, has been appointed as the convenor for the council's member. Her appointment ensures that the mentoring experience of WE Hub regarding women entrepreneurship is taken into account when the council deliberates.

Key Highlights:

  • Telangana convenes WEEC to strengthen support for women-led enterprises
  • Four core pillars will address policy, innovation, social impact and investment
  • WE Hub will coordinate implementation of recommendations from the council

"WE Hub works with women founders every day, and much of the gap we see is about access, to capital, to customers and to networks, not about ambition. The Council brings the right people together to ask what needs to change, who can make it happen, and what Telangana can test and scale. As Member Convenor, our task is to turn this conversation into recommendations the State can act on," she said.

Speaking about the problems faced by women entrepreneurs, Sita pointed out that gaining access to finances, customers, and business networks is still a major problem for the success of women-led businesses. Overcoming the above problems will play a pivotal role in helping create an environment wherein women-led businesses can gain access to resources and markets.

The establishment of WEEC also brings to focus the continuous problem of funding gap that exists among the enterprises that are founded by women in India. As per the Funding Review conducted by DealStreetAsia, the startups that were founded only by women received just about 0.97% of the total private money raised in India in 2025.

Four important pillars will target the interventions of the council: policy and institutional leadership, urban innovation and entrepreneurship, social impact and inclusive enterprise and capital, and investment and corporate partnerships. These four important pillars will address different aspects of the entrepreneurial ecosystem using the knowledge base provided by the government, the business sector, and the development sector. The members of the council will identify gaps within these important focus areas and responsibly allocate its addressing within 12 to 24 months.

All these insights will come together in a white paper that will analyze the current state of women entrepreneurship in Telangana. The white paper is expected to be released in the Invest Telangana Global Summit 2026, and the publication partner is EY.

These recommendations will be forwarded to Departments of Information Technology, Electronics & Communication (ITE&C), Industries & Commerce, Panchayat Raj & Rural Development, and Women & Child Welfare. WE Hub shall be the nodal agency for coordinating the implementation of recommendations.
