  • UP Warriorz secured their first win of TATA WPL 2026 in style
  • Harleen Deol starred with an unbeaten match-winning 64
  • Mumbai Indians suffered their second loss of the season

UP Warriorz finally opened their account in the WPL 2026 with a commanding seven-wicket victory over defending champions Mumbai Indians, producing a performance that revived their campaign and underlined their potential. UPW posted 162/3 in 18.1 overs with Harleen Deol taking the helm, smashing an unbeaten 64*.

Mumbai Indians were kept in check early by disciplined new-ball bowling, with UPW’s pacers extracting movement and restricting the powerplay. Although MI managed to recover through a composed 65 from Nat Sciver-Brunt and a gritty 38 from Amanjot Kaur, they never fully broke free. UPW’s spinners slowed the middle overs effectively, restricting MI to 161 for 5.

The chase began cautiously for UPW, with early wickets putting pressure on the top order. However, Harleen Deol responded emphatically. She played with freedom and purpose, crafting an unbeaten 64 off 39 balls. Her innings was built on sharp placement and relentless boundary-hitting, particularly through the off side, which kept the required rate in check.

Harleen found strong support from Chloe Tryon, who made a powerful unbeaten 27 from just 11 deliveries in only her second WPL appearance. Together, they ensured there were no late stumbles, accelerating smoothly to finish the chase with 11 balls remaining.

The win not only earned UP Warriorz their first points of the season but also signalled a timely resurgence, while Mumbai Indians were left to reflect on missed chances and another below-par outing.
