- TATA WPL 2025 to Be Held at 4 New Venues
- Third Edition of WPL to be Held from February 7 to March 2, 2025
The much-anticipated Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025, the third edition of the franchise league, will be held from February 7 to March 2, 2025, stated BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla. The tournament will be played across four venues in Baroda, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Lucknow.
The tournament will feature five teams - Mumbai Indians Women, Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women, Delhi Capital Women, Gujarat Giants, and UP Warriorz along with their respective captains and players - competing for the ultimate trophy. The exact number of games at each venue remains unknown.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a four-venue plan for the upcoming third edition of TATA WPL 2025 after the successful completion of two seasons held in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai in 2023 and Delhi and Bengaluru in 2024. The arrangement will allow four of the five WPL teams to play in their home ground, while Delhi Capitals will play all matches away.
BCCI VP Rajiv Shukla confirms the four stadiums for this year's tournament: Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai; M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru; Kotambi Stadium, Vadodara; and Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
Viacom18 secured media rights for WPL's TV and digital broadcasts in January 2023, valued at Rs 951 crore. The per-match value is Rs 7.09 crore, with the potential for an increase to 34 matches from 2026. Mumbai won the inaugural season in 2023, while RCB Women won the subsequent season, led by star cricketer Ellyse Perry. RCB will now defend their title.
