Mumbai Indians secured a 9-run victory over Gujarat Giants in Match 19 of the TATA Women's Premier League (WPL), moving to second in the points table. The victory was based on crucial batting contributions, led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur's 54, and disciplined bowling by Amelia Kerr and Hayley Matthews, marking MI's first successful total defense this season.

After Match 19, held at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, Delhi Capitals stood tall in first place with 10 points and NRR +0.396, Mumbai Indians placed second with 10 points and NRR +0.298, and Gujarat Giants placed third with 8 points and NRR +0.228.

Gujarat Giants bowled first, executing their plans effectively with the new ball. MI's opening pair, Hayley Matthews (27 off 22) and Amelia Kerr (5 off 9), failed to counterattack, with Priya Mishra dismissing Matthews in the seventh over. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (54 off 33) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (38 off 31) stabilized the innings, adding momentum in the middle overs. Amanjot Kaur (27 off 15) injected late aggression, while Sajana S and Yastika Bhatia also contributed to the score. MI ended the innings with a competitive total of 179/6 in 20 overs.

While chasing 180, Gujarat Giants faced setbacks of openers Beth Mooney (7 off 9) and Kashvee Gautam (10 off 14). Taking the charge, Harleen Deol smashed 5 furious boundaries scoring 24 off 17 but later caught by Amelia Kerr for an lbw. Phoebe Litchfield and Deandra Dottin contributed to GG's fightback, but Shaikh's dismissal of Dottin further weakened GG. Bharti Fulmali's 61 off 25 balls helped GG recover alongside Simran Shaikh (18 off 16), however MI dismissed GG's batting lineup restricting them to 170 in 20 overs.
