The Maharani of Vadodara, Radhikaraje Gaekwad, has praised the Gujarat Giants for their Women's Premier League 2025 home debut. The team held a special interactive session with the Maharani, discussing women's empowerment and Vadodara's cricketing legacy. The event took place at Laxmi Vilas Palace.
Maharani Radhikaraje Gaekwad, a champion for women's empowerment, shared her insights and initiatives for women's upliftment with the GG players and highlighted the Vadodara cricketing legacy and its evolvement. Her involvement resonates with the Gujarat Giants, a team committed to promoting women's sports and fostering talent. The meeting highlights the growing recognition and support for women's cricket in India.
In addition to interacting with the Maharani, players of Gujarat Giants also visited the Gazra Cafe, run by the LGBTQ+ community, and the Shri Maharani Chimnabai Stree Udyogalaya (MCSU), an initiative empowering women through education, vocational training, and skill development, showcasing progressive Vadodara efforts.
As a token of appreciation and admiration, Gujarat Giants captain Ashleigh Gardner presented a special jersey to Maharani Radhikaraje, symbolizing her support for the team and women's cricket. The team, including skipper Ashleigh, Kashvee Gautam, Phoebe Litchfield, and Deandra Dottin, had a memorable experience at the Laxmi Vilas Palace. Maharani expressed her excitement and support for the team, highlighting the growing impact of women's sports in India.
The TATA WPL 2025 is scheduled to start on Friday, February 14. The first match will be conducted at the iconic BCA Stadium, Vadodara with teams playing, Gujarat Giants against defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore.
