Royal Challengers Bangalore, face its fourth consecutive defeat in WPL 2025 as they lost to Delhi Capitals in a last evening’s match played at Bengaluru’s Chinna Swami Stadium. RCB skipper, Smriti Mandhana lost the toss to Meg Lanning Led, DC which decided to bowl first. RCB batting first put up a total of 147/5 on the board. DC was also coming off a victory in their last match played the previous evening.
In the second over, Shikha Pandey scored Smriti’s wicket at slip. RCB’s Ellyse Perry put up a strong fight for the home team and scored a half century, making 60 runs off 47 balls. She remained not out at the end of the innings. Raghvi Bisht put up a good fight but could not help the team gain momentum, with it bowing out at 148. DC’s debutant bowler Sree Charani took two wickets while giving out only 28 runs, a commendable effort.
As DC’s chase began, Meg lost her wicket soon at two runs off 12 balls and was caught by Elsey Perry. Shafali took on the charge and along with Jonassen who came in at No three thwarted RCB’s chances at a win.
As the league shifts to Lucknow, DC appears to be the clear favourite once again, with the other four teams all vying for consistency. Smriti apologized at the conclusion of the evening to the home crowd, which had gathered in large numbers for the second consecutive season. Before two crucial games that could determine their fate, the reigning champions DC, will now have a brief respite to regroup.
