The Tamil Nadu government has proposed the establishment of nine dedicated industrial estates for women entrepreneurs across eight districts to strengthen the MSME sector and create new employment opportunities.
MSME Minister P. Mathan Raja announced in the Assembly that the Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO) would develop the estates with an investment of Rs 237 crore. The proposed locations include Madhavaram in Chennai, Thiruvathavur in Madurai, Suriyur and Manapparai in Trichy, Periyaseeragapatti in Salem, Minnur in Tirupattur, Sangaraperi in Tuticorin, Narasinganallur in Tirunelveli and Palayapatti in Thanjavur. The projects are expected to create employment opportunities for nearly 5,100 people.
Tamil Nadu already operates five exclusive industrial parks for women entrepreneurs in Salem, Trichy, Madurai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur. The proposed expansion is expected to further strengthen infrastructure and support the growth of women-led enterprises across the state.

Mathan Raja also released five new industrial estates with 234 acres of land in Chennai and the nearby districts for Rs 171 crore. The estates will be in the Naidukuppam, Thervaikandigai and Kannankottai areas of Tiruvallur district and Erumayur and Varadharajapuram areas of Kancheepuram district. The government projects that the projects will generate an estimated 10,900 jobs.
The state will also launch a fund agency for startups to promote entrepreneurship in new fields like, AI, deep technology, financial technology.
The pharmaceutical park will be established in Shoolagiri of Krishnagiri district and a medical equipment manufacturing park in Suriyur of Trichy district among other proposals.
The government has also announced an industrial park for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) engaged in coconut-based industries in Pollachi for Rs 11.5 crore.
To encourage industrialization in the economically backward areas, the Govt said that new Industrial estates are to be set up in Villupuram.
The four common facility centers will be set up under the micro-cluster development program at an estimated cost of Rs 32 crore. They will also cover the requirements of the Dindigul lock cluster, Athangudi tiles cluster (Sivaganga), coir products cluster (Thulukkampalayam, Erode) and coconut based food products cluster (Anaimalai, Coimbatore district), the minister added.
The initiative is a part of Tamil Nadu's broader initiatives to build a robust MSME ecosystem and provide greater opportunities for women entrepreneurs. The proposed parks will offer a dedicated industrial infrastructure, creating jobs for women entrepreneurs, and support inclusive industrial growth in the state.
