Odisha native Sweta Mohanty was recently awarded at the Houses of Parliament, Westminster, for her outstanding contributions to community service. She is among the winners of the coveted IIW She Inspires Award 2025, which identifies women achievers across different segments for their remarkable contributions to society.
The IIW She Inspires Award 2025, presented by Inspiring Indian Women (IIW), recognized pioneering women who are making a positive impact in areas of community service, business, education, and leadership.
Sweta's endeavors have been instrumental in promoting India-UK relations and people-to-people relationships by conducting research work, engaging the community through social media, as well as power events that instill influential roles.
She had said in her acceptance speech, "Over the last six years, I have committed myself to activities that are beyond diplomacy but focus on people-to-people connections between the UK and India. From promoting cultural activities like the first Bali Jatra ever in the UK to supporting equitable narratives of Jammu and Kashmir, my motivation has been always to bridge people and enable the next generation".
The two-day awards ceremony, which took place on March 24 and 25, was hosted by MP Bob Blackman CBE, Padmashree, and MP Joy Morrissey, and was attended by a gathering of distinguished leaders and changemakers. Notable guests present were Lord Meghnad Desai (Padma Bhushan), Ex-MP Theresa Villiers, Mayor Cllr Salim Chowdhury (Harrow), Mayor Cllr Pherina Bhardwaj (Gerrards Cross), and Ajay Kumar Thakur (Head of BSE SME and Startup Exchange, Bombay Stock Exchange).
The jury board included prominent people like Padmashree Dr. Soma Ghosh, Mira Misra Kaushik OBE, Natasha Hart MBE, and Naomi Canton (UK Correspondent for TOI & Times Group), amongst others. IIW She Inspires Awards 2025 honored women who portray resilience, leadership, and contribution. As IIW continues striving to empower and acknowledge women's achievements, the event was an overpowering manifestation of empowerment and motivation for would-be changemakers.
