  • Startup India has joined hands with Womennovator to encourage women entrepreneurs
  • The initiative will assist startups in more than 100 districts across India
  • It seeks to deliver timely assistance to women-owned businesses

Startup India, a program of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Womennovator (Global Incubator for Women) Gvriksh Foundation with the mission to facilitate women entrepreneurs and startups in over 100 districts in India.

Through this tie-up, the goal is to offer timely assistance to women entrepreneurship ventures, promote development, and aid in the economic growth of the nation.

It will concentrate on a few core areas, such as systematic mentorship via the WeNEST program, providing guidance, marketing connections, and B2B networking with corporates and PSUs while enhancing ESG compliance and sustainability; facilitation of investor entry through the WePitch series, enabling women to pitch an idea across more than 100 cities and meet investors, mentors, and applause.

Skill development initiatives that develop leadership, teamwork, community, technology (AI), and confidence right from the college level; and encouraging gender-diverse hackathon and innovation challenges at the grassroots level.

By engaging women innovators, the program can increase access, build inclusive opportunities, and fortify the ecosystem for women-driven startups.

Founder of Womennovator Tripti Shinghal Somani stated that the partnership can spread like ripples with the right support at the right moment, and Sanjiv Singh, Joint Secretary at DPIIT, underlined that the MoU would be able to unlock the unique entrepreneurial experiences, fuel job growth, and make the ecosystem more inclusive.
