
RBI Hosts Town Hall in Jammu to Celebrate MSME Day with Focus on Women Entrepreneurs

- The event centered in particular on promoting and recognizing Women MSME Entrepreneurs
- ‘MSME Day’ is observed nationwide to renowned the critical contributions of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises
To commemorate MSME Day, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) held a Special Town Hall Meeting in Jammu, with an emphasis on women MSME entrepreneurs. MSME Day, which is observed nationally, honors the vital roles that Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises play in India's economy.
The global significance of MSMEs, which account for 90 percent of businesses, create 60 percent to 70 percent of jobs, and contribute 50 percent of global GDP, is reflected in the 2025 theme, "Enhancing the role of MSMEs as drivers of sustainable growth and innovation."
Along with Chandrashekhar Azad, Regional Director, RBI Jammu, the event's Chief Guest was Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner/Secretary, Department of Industries & Commerce, and its Special Invitee was Rachna Sharma, Secretary, and Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj. About 100 MSME entrepreneurs attended with enthusiasm.
Top banking officials from J&K Bank, SBI, PNB, Canara Bank, SIDBI, ICICI Bank, and HDFC Bank were among the dignitaries in attendance, along with Arun Manhas (Director, Industries & Commerce), Dr. Jagdish Chander (Secretary/CEO, Khadi and Village Industries Board), and senior representatives from MSME-DFO and Khadi and Village Industries Commission. Participants included business executives from the Indian Chamber of Commerce and the PHD Chamber of Commerce.
The event included thematic sessions on important government programs like the One District One Product program, PM Vishwakarma Yojana, PM Mudra Yojana, and PMEGP. With a default rate of just 2 percent, Vikramjit Singh praised the PMEGP beneficiaries' strong repayment culture.
