PV Sindhu, HS Prannoyto lead Indian Team at Asia Mixed Team Championships

Commonwealth Games gold medallist PV Sindhuand World No. 8 HS Prannoy are all set to lead the Indian contingent for the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships. Thechampionship will be held in Dubai from February 14-19.

The 2021 edition of the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championshipshad to be cancelled owing to the Covid pandemic.

AakarshiKashyap will provide backup to PV Sindhu in the women’s singles matches and LakshyaSen will be the second men’s singles player in the squad.

All England semi-finalists GayatriGopichand and Treesa Jolly will be the primary women’s doubles pair. Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Castro are expected to be picked the mixed doubles responsibility.

French Open champions SatwiksairajRankireddy and Chirag Shetty have been chosen for the men’s doubles matches. Krishna Prasad G and VishnuvardhanGoudwere the second pair added to the team.

“We have picked a very strong team that is capable of beating any top nation on their day. Our men’s team showed during the Thomas Cup last year what happens when they find their rhythm and I am confident that this team can also finish on the podium,” said Badminton Association of India secretary Sanjay Mishra.
