PV Sindhu & HS Prannoy with Top Players to Enter Paris Olympics 2024
By: WE Staff | Tuesday, 26 March 2024
India has secured three singles players and two doubles teams for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, with their hopes hinged on their performance in the Madrid Open, which is the only tournament left before the Paris Games, and a major ranking change is unlikely to occur as it is a Super-300 Event. HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen, PV Sindhu, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty, and Ashwini Ponnappa-Tanisha Crasto are more likely to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
In the women's singles, PV Sindhu, who is ranked No. 11, is probably the only other Indian competitor. She is essential to India's hopes of winning a medal because of her strong position. With her current standing of 11th in the world in the women's singles category, she is an important contender for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. She is still in a strong position to make an entry at the most prestigious tournament despite recent setbacks. PV Sindhu is the highest-ranked Indian player in the top 25 in the "Race to Paris" rankings for women's singles. Aakarshi Kashyap, the next Indian in the race, is presently ranked 41th.
India is allowed to field up to two teams in each category for doubles. On the men's doubles qualifying list, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the top-ranked duo in the world, are presently ranked No. 2. Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto are ranked No. 12 in the Olympic women's doubles rankings. In the Olympic qualification rankings, HS Prannoy has been placed 9th, and Lakshya Sen is ranked 12th. Their ability to execute consistently is essential to India's Olympics.
The duo of Women's Doubles, Treesa-Gayatri, and Kidambi Srikanth, are probably out of the Olympics. Treesa-Gayatri, one of the top emerging pairs, had difficulties last year because of injuries and missed competing at several events. During this time, Ashwini-Tanisha, their practice partner, advanced in the global rankings.
