Priyanka Chaturvedi, a Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha, has embarked next phase in her career, moving from serving in politics to serving in education, policy-making, and institution-building. While maintaining her devotion to politics, she plans to move towards mentoring future leaders and influencing policy-making through education and research.
Priyanka has been appointed to serve as a faculty member of the O.P. Jindal Global University and will be teaching in the coming semester. She is taking up the mantle of leading the initiative on “Women Led Futures” by the Observer Research Foundation. This will involve furthering discussions on gender inclusive policy making and leadership roles.
As she looks back at over two decades of life in public affairs, she mentioned that she has plans for writing her book detailing her political journey.
Talking about her changing role, Priyanka asserted that while politics has continued to be a crucial part of her career for over two decades now, she finds herself in a place where she can make a contribution to nation building through various channels. While cleaning up the political system still continues to be a part of her long term plan, she believes that there is much more to public service than politics. Through education and research, she wants to make a contribution to the future of India.

Priyanka has expressed her appreciation for the passion and curiosity of her students, and added that she would be coming back to teach again during the Fall semester. She thanked the constant support and encouragement she has received from the Vice Chancellor Prof. C. Raj Kumar, under whose leadership she has been able to undertake this new academic endeavor while still working towards her goal of inspiring the future leaders of India.
Drawing from her long association with Observer Research Foundation (ORF), Priyanka revealed that she was an alumnus of ORF Asian Forum on Global Governance (AFGG), through which she gained insights into international relations and public policy under the guidance of eminent personalities such as Dr. Shashi Tharoor, who led the program as its Dean.
Drawing from this experience, she said that she would be leading the Women-Led Futures vertical at ORF. The program is based on the vision of India during its tenure of G20 presidency that women should lead development. Expressing her thanks, she thanked ORF President Samir Saran for giving her confidence and trust to lead this program.

Priyanka explained that people’s curiosity towards politicians tends to lead them to make such guesses which are baseless, and she wants people to understand that entering the field of education and policy is not a move away from politics for her.
