President Ram Nath Kovind to Host a Meeting of Women Legislators

On a two-day visit to the State, President Ram Nath Kovind landed at kerala on Wednesday evening.

Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, Minister for Transport Antony Raju, Mayor Arya Rajendran, Chief Secretary V.P. Joy, Air Marshal J. Chalapathi, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Air Command, State Police Chief Anil Kant, and other senior officials welcomed the President, who arrived on a special Indian Air Force (IAF) flight at 8.40 p.m.

Savitha Kovind, Mr. Kovind's wife, and their daughter Swati are with him. He went straight to Raj Bhavan after arriving, where he will spend the night.

At 11.30 a.m. on Thursday, Mr. Kovind will open the National Women Legislators' Conference, Kerala – 2022, at the Kerala Legislative Assembly.

After then, he'll return to Raj Bhavan. On Thursday at 5.20 p.m., he will depart for Pune.

Conference

The State Assembly is hosting a two-day women legislators' conference as part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75 years of independence. On hand will be the Governor, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, and Speaker M.B. Rajesh.           

The conference, themed 'Power of Democracy,' aims to bring together female lawmakers from both Houses of Parliament, State legislative assemblies and legislative councils, and Union Territories. There will be almost 120 delegates in attendance.

Topics include 'Constitution and women's rights,' among others. 'Women's Contribution to India's Freedom Struggle,' 'Women's rights and legal gaps,' as well as 'Under-representation of women in decision-making bodies,' are two of the topics covered.

The valedictory will be inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Friday. Mr. Rajesh will be the chairman.
