Vaishnavi Phalke to Captain Indian Junior Women's Hockey Team at U-23 Tournament in Ireland

Hockey India announced a 20-member Indian junior women's team for the U-23 Five Nations tournament to be held in Dublin, Ireland from June 19 to 26. Vaishnavi Phalke was named captain, while Mumtaz Khan was named her deputy.

During the tournament, the junior women's team will face the Netherlands, Ireland, the United States, and Ukraine. It will also compete in the FIH Hockey 5s, which will take place on June 4 and 5 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

“We’ve got a very talented group of players, who have been working hard to learn and improve each and every day. It’s a well-balanced side, some of them performed really well at the Junior World Cup recently, while some of them will take part in their first major international outing,” Coach Erik Wonink said.

“The U-23 Five Nations Tournament in Ireland will give them a good learning exposure and they are looking forward to make the most out of this opportunity.”  

India's first match will be against Ireland on June 19, followed by a match against the Netherlands on June 20. On June 22, a match against Ukraine will be played, followed by a match against the United States on June 23.

The top two teams will compete in the final on June 26 after the round-robin matches, while the third and fourth-placed teams will compete in the bronze medal play-off match on the same day.

Khushboo, Kurmapu Ramya are the goalkeepers for the team.
