  • Pranavi Urs won her debut event, IGPL Invitational Tour
  • She shot a bogey-free 8-under 60, which gave her a 14-under total
  • Pranavi finished second, ahead of overnight leader Karandeep Kochhar

At the Bombay Presidency Golf Club, Pranavi Urs made history by earning the chance to play the 1st event of her career as a female golfer on the IGPL supplied PGA Tour, where she earned equal pay with male players.

After starting at 14-Under (the season's 1st tournament), She completed a bogey-free round with an incredible score of 8-Under 60. Her score was perfect enough to wrap up an incredible performance, as she finished 2 strokes ahead of her paring Karandeep Kochhar, who was the 2nd place leader going into the final round.

With this victory, Pranavi Urs has written her own legacy and opened new opportunities for female athletes to secure success in the events.

Pranavi made her final round best performance of the week and continued her strong overall play throughout the tournament. She stated that she came to the event with no expectations, except to play well; however, the results from her first event certainly exceeded what she had planned.

After starting the day 2 strokes down on Kochhar, she quickly got the momentum back with a Birdie 2nd hole and followed it up with Birdies on the 4th, 5th and seventh holes. On the back 9 of the tournament

She continued her strong play, which included Birdies on both the 10th and 12th holes, allowing her to build a 3-stroke lead heading into the last few holes and ultimately maintaining that lead throughout the round. She made a Birdie on the 18th to cap off a great accomplishment that may very well become one of the defining moments in the history of Indian Golf.

Pranavi revealed that for her, finishing ahead of Karandeep was her main goal, but she also finds it even better to win by surpassing the entire field. She adds their banter is a source of motivation for both of them in improving and that they both have a very friendly competition dynamic.

Female athletes have struggled to gain visibility and support throughout the sports world globally, and Pranavi's success in this event defied that idea.

She believes that the environment for women in sports has drastically improved with more women being accepted into participation and returning to competition after giving birth, resulting in a stronger support network for women pursuing competitive sports.

Pranavi began playing golf when she was five years old in Mysore. Her father had a passion for watching growth in all sorts of different golfers.

By the time Pranavi was just 14 years old, she would receive an award for being the best amateur player at the Indian Open and qualifying for the Asian Games! She made the switch to professional golf and quickly made a name for herself with two consecutive wins.

With seven top-ten finishes out of 38 events she feels she’s close to breakthrough victory on the Ladies European Tour as well and believes in keeping a positive attitude towards opportunities to come.
