Powai Run 2026 with 11,000+ Runners Highlights Women Empowerment

Brookfield Properties, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Mumbai Lakers, organized the Powai Run, an annual event, on January 11, 2026, and was able to welcome over 11,000 people.

An integral aspect of the event was the launch of 20 pink auto-rickshaws sponsored by Brookfield Properties, along with the Rotary Club.

The project aims to empower females by providing skill-based driving training, enabling the financial independence of female drivers, in addition to the safety and inclusion of females as passengers.

The Powai Run observed the completion of the 14th edition and the fifth consecutive years of partnership with Brookfield Properties.

The proceeds from the event were directed at several social causes, such as heart surgery, cancer treatment, education for the girl child, patients, and health and wellness.

The running event was flagged off by Ankur Gupta, Deputy Chief Investment Officer & Head of Asia Pacific & Middle East, Real Estate, Brookfield, Eakta Menon, President, Rotary Club of Mumbai Lakers, Danny Poljak, President & Co-Head of Real Estate, Brookfield Properties Australia, & Charu Thapar, Executive Vice President, Head of Operations & CRM, Brookfield Properties India from Downtown Powai.

Apart from the 4KM and 10KM runs, there were two special category runs. These included the CEO Run, which was meant for the senior leadership of Brookfield Properties, stakeholders, and strategic partners, while the other was the IIT-B Run, which had over 1,000 students, faculty, and alumni of IIT Bombay participating. The IIT-B Run was led by Prof. Suryanarayana Doolla, the Dean of Student Affairs, at IIT Bombay.

There were some remarkable performances at the racing events that were held for the various age groups. The winners for the 10KM events were women’s 10, first: Kashish Malhot, second: Ishita Malhi and third: Anupama Kam

Mens 10KM first: Rochishnu Raw, second: Salman Shaikh and third: Takashi Doi Other special moments during the events were the presence of Geeta Chauhan, captain of the Indian Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team, during the carnival following the run, as well as achieving Amarjeet Singh Chawla’s milestone of completing his 100th 10KM run. Amarjeet is visually impaired, completing several distance runs.

In his comments at the event, Charu Thapar, Executive Vice President, Head of Operations & CRM, Brookfield Properties India, said, “The Powai Run is one such event where we are associated with the Rotary Club of Mumbai Lakers, which forms an integral part of overall community engagement programs for Brookfield.”

Eakta Menon, the President, Rotary Club of Mumbai Lakers, said that the Powai Run acts as one of the major fundraising platforms that help the social causes pursued by the Rotary Club.

Brookfield Properties and the Rotary Club of Mumbai Lakers reiterated their commitment to continue to work together to support initiatives that benefit the communities in and around Powai.
