Pilani Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Society (PIEDS), BITS Pilani's technology company incubator, has presented its pioneering start-up program, 'Womenpreneur for Bharat 1.0.' This program is a collaboration with the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP), which is incubated within NITI Aayog, and is supported by the Aditya Birla Capital Foundation, Aditya Birla Capital Limited's CSR arm.
The relationship was officially launched on November 24, 2023, at the Dorjee Khandu State Convention Center in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, during a state session on "Enabling Women-Led Development Through Entrepreneurship." The goal of 'Womenpreneurs for Bharat 1.0' is to give financial help and incubator assistance to female entrepreneurs building solutions for and from Tier 2/3/4 cities in the Northeast, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Jammu and Kashmir.
The program, which is looking for both for-profit and non-profit women-led start-ups, will work across UN-SDG sectors, solving commercial or social challenges in these areas. Through this effort, Mrs. Vishakha Mulye, Director of Aditya Birla Capital Foundation, reaffirmed her commitment to achieving equitable, inclusive, and long-term social and economic progress for the country.
The initiative will provide eligible start-ups with up to Rs. 10 lakhs in finance, as well as PIEDS' extended incubation support, which will include one-on-one coaching, market access help, and possibilities to acquire further investments. This strategic alliance is projected to benefit India's diversified entrepreneurial environment greatly, boosting innovation and economic growth, particularly in neglected regions.
