Pee Safe Raises $32 Million in Series C Funding Led by OrbiMed

- Funding included new capital and partial exits for early investors
Pee Safe, a women’s hygiene and wellness startup from Gurugram, famous for introducing the concept of toilet seat sanitiser spray in the Indian market, recently received Series C funding worth $32 million (or approximately Rs 290 crore) from the investment firm OrbiMed.
The funding round was a combination of primary funding and secondary sales of shares, enabling some of the early investors to unwind their stakes in the company.
A healthcare-focused private equity firm managing $20 billion in funds, OrbiMed, would join the board of Pee Safe, including Dr. Sunny Sharma and Sumona Chakraborty in the board of the company.
Started by Vikas Bagaria and Rithish Kumar, Pee Safe has primarily zeroed in on a much unexplored area improving public toilet hygiene with its initial product being a toilet disinfectant tablet.
It has further diversified its products across feminine care products, personal care products, grooming products, as well as wellness products.
The startup boasts of having an annualized net revenue run rate of more than 150 crores of rupees while staying a profitable entity, which not many D2C brands manage in the country of India.
The funds will be employed for the expansion of offline distribution channels for consumer products, improvement of brand-driven marketing campaigns, as well as expedited developments within quick commerce online platforms as well as leading online marketplaces.
At present, it is present through omnichannel retailing in more than 50,000 offline retail points, spread across over 100 cities, besides being distributed through online channels and exports to 23 countries.
