Nitu Chandr, an Award-Winning Producer and Hollywood Actor, Launches a Production Studio in Abu Dhabi

Nitu Chandra Srivastava, a Hollywood actor, opens Champaran Talkies Studios FZ LLC in Abu Dhabi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. The project is a tribute to Gandhiji, who started his Satyagraha, a non-violent type of protest, in Champaran, as well as to Nitu's Indian heritage, which has greatly contributed to her career as an actor and producer.

Nitu battled her way through various Indian film sectors despite coming from a middle-class household with no experience in the film business to establish herself as an actor. Nitu used Champaran Talkies as a vehicle for giving back to the Indian film community and the people she had entertained with her acting.

With the goal of providing high-caliber movies to Indian audiences, Nitu Chandra and her brother Mr. Nitin Chandra founded Champaran Talkies in Mumbai, India, in 2010. Together, they aimed to improve the bad reputation of films from Nitu's native Bihar.

When Champaran Talkies became the first production company to win India's one and only National Award for Maithili, this aim came to fruition. Since then, Champaran Talkies has created a number of fiction and documentary films.

A branch of the Mumbai production firm is Champaran Talkies Studios FZ LLC in Abu Dhabi. The studio in Abu Dhabi exists solely to create international films that are appealing to a worldwide audience.

In order to accomplish this, Nitu intends to form an all-female team of top-notch, bright technicians that can contribute to the creation of high-quality content and open doors for women in a traditionally male-dominated field.

The finest thing we can do for society's advancement is to empower women and acknowledge their significance. I want to give women in the movie-making and production industries more access through this all-female crew at Champaran Talkies Studios. Due to UAE's worldwide integration and the presence of more than 200 different nationalities in one location, I am confident that I can locate the right talent from various ethnic backgrounds for my projects. I am grateful to the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, Mr. Abhitanshu Khare, my attorney from London, as well as Mr. Abdulhamid Al Balooshi from A. Albalooshi Advocates and Legal Consultants, who have been instrumental in establishing my studios here in UAE,” says Nitu Chandra Srivastava, Director, Champaran Talkies Studios FZ LLC.

Mr. Hans Fraikin, the Abu Dhabi Film & TV Commissioner, comments on this collaboration by saying, “We are delighted to welcome Hollywood Actor and award-winning producer Nitu Chandra Srivastava to Abu Dhabi, UAE. Champaran talkies Studios is a one-of-a-kind all-women production house that plans to create ground-breaking and inspiring international productions, and we are extremely happy to support Nitu in this unique venture. It is also befitting that we are announcing this association on the momentous occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. We believe that this partnership will create international opportunities for women globally in Abu Dhabi.”

The team's attempt to tell a lovely story through their artistic abilities is only beginning with the announcement of the opening of the studios. With writers from all around the world, Champaran Talkies Studios is already in discussions to finalise the projects.
