- Nitish Kumar handed over appointment letters to more than 5,000 new ANMs in Patna
- This ceremony witnessed the presence of Vijay Kumar Sinha and Mangal Pandey
- This recruitment involves 4,954 ANMs for supporting the health sub-centres all over the state
At a recent event held in Patna, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has granted appointment letters to nearly 5000 women who have been appointed as Auxiliary Nurse-Midwives (ANM) to assist in strengthening the health system in rural areas and to enhance delivery of health services through the state’s Health Sub-Centres (HSC).
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha and Minister of Health Mangal Pandey. During the event he explained that the 4954 ANM's are also being hired to enable HSC's to function properly as there are approximately 14,600 HSC's and Ayushman Arogya Kendra (AAKs) in the state.
Opposition Leader Tejashwi Yadav questioned if the Government's efforts to improve health services are misguided and he raised concern regarding the lack of quality of care received at some health facilities. He stated that the current Government is not continuing to develop the services they started.
The move made at the gathering is geared towards enhancing the healthcare sector in the state of Bihar. The employment of many ANMs will help ensure that the needy get better access to healthcare facilities. This includes pregnant mothers, children, and elderly persons in both urban and rural parts of the state.
Besides increasing the number of professionals in the field, the state government also seems keen on improving the facilities of the PHCs in terms of equipment and facilities. This could make them efficient and effective when it comes to providing better healthcare services to the population.
