Incorporating Women's Entrepreneurship Development, Financial Access, Support Capital, and Technological Assistance, 2026. Key Highlights
- Government of Nepal offers women-led enterprises up to Rs 300,000
- Technology Support will help women upgrade machinery, tools, and equipment
- Program aims to enhance production, self-employment, and business growth
The program will be rolled out jointly with provincial and local governments to help deliver the program to women entrepreneurs in various regions. The strategy also focuses on enterprises utilizing local raw materials and local skills, encouraging enterprises that benefit the local economy, sustain traditional knowledge and livelihoods.
Agriculture, livestock, handicrafts, tourism, allo and dhaka weaving and homestay are among the priority sectors under the program. The areas are those where women are involved in some form and where further opportunities for the businesses to improve their productivity and market potential would result from the provision of technology, equipment and financial support.
The government has also incorporated an inclusion-focused approach into the program. Special priority will be given to women entrepreneurs belonging to the Haruwa-Charuwa, Kamlahari, Chamar, Dom, Chepang, and Badi communities. The initiative further identifies single women, survivors of violence, and women returning from foreign employment as priority beneficiaries.
In addition to delivering equipment and technology, the program aims to enhance women's financial liberty, enterprise development and expansion opportunities, and self-employment. The government plans to achieve this by providing technologic support along with support for entrepreneurship in a wider sense in order to improve the capabilities of women entrepreneurs and increase the number of sustainable livelihoods.
It is also part of a broader vision to enhance the inclusivity of women's economic participation by allocating support to women that might be harder to access capital, technology and formal business opportunities. The assistance might assist individual entrepreneurs, as well as women-led enterprises, in closing technology gaps and help enterprises become more productive and more business viable.
With the new procedure now in place, the government is positioning women entrepreneurs, locally driven businesses, traditional skills, and inclusive economic participation as important areas of its entrepreneurship development agenda.
