  • National Commission for Women issued summons after taking suo motu cognisance of media reports
  • The summons was issued to actress Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt
  • The action is in connection with a song called Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke from a film called KD: The Devil

On Thursday, members of the National Commission of Women (NCW) took cognizance of news reports on the alleged indecency and vulgarity in the newly released song "Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke" from the movie "KD: The Devil," and issued summonses against the song's stars, Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt, and against lyricist Badshah for his song "Tattiri ".

According to the NCW, it received numerous complaints on the nature of the songs and their sexually explicit lyrics, and that they could influence audiences, particularly children.

While investigators say there will be more reviews for future songs, at this stage of the investigation the material in these works will probably be deemed sexually suggestive and inappropriate.

As such, they may have violated the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Information Tecnology Act, or the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Individuals summoned by the NCW to appear in person include: Nora Fatehi; Raqueeb Alam; Sanjay Dutt; KVN Group producer Venkat K. Narayana; and director Kiran Kumar; who are to appear on March 24th; and for Tattiri, Badshah; directors Mahi Sandhu and Joban Sandhu; and producer Hiten; who are to appear on March 25th, with documentation relevant to their productions.
