Women today are making an impact "from home to space," according to Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar, chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), who emphasized the critical role that women play in nation-building.

Vijaya stated that empowered women are the cornerstone of a forward-thinking and independent nation during an awareness event held Tuesday at the Dr. Mangal Sen Auditorium under the theme "Mera Rashtra, Meri Zimmedari" (My Nation, My Responsibility), which was organized by the Haryana State Commission for Women.

She commended the Haryana Women Commission's work to uphold the law and encourage women's independence and empowerment. In addition to highlighting important legislative achievements over the past ten years, including laws addressing domestic abuse and sexual harassment, the Women's Reservation Bill, and the prohibition on triple talaq, she called Haryana a model for the "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" campaign.

She also gave Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership credit for putting policies into place that have improved the lives of women. She urged families and society to maintain strong values and support women's advancement, starting with teaching boys to respect women, even as women's opportunities continue to grow.

These opinions were echoed by Haryana Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan, who emphasized the significance of citizens being knowledgeable, diligent, and dedicated to the advancement of the country. He mentioned President Droupadi Murmu, Army officers Colonel Sofia and Colonel Vyomika, Kalpana Chawla, Rani Laxmi Bai, and Ahilyabai Holkar as role models.

Additionally, he gave PM Modi credit for introducing "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" from Haryana, which has improved the gender ratio in the state. As a step toward inclusive development, Harvinder applauded the 33 percent reservation for women.

Karnal MLA Jagmohan Anand backed the idea of “One Nation, One Election,” saying frequent elections strain public resources and slow down national progress.

Mayor Renu Bala Gupta praised the commitment of the federal and state governments to the welfare of women. The Haryana Women Commission's chairperson, Renu Bhatia, emphasized the Commission's round-the-clock support, particularly in cases of domestic abuse and workplace harassment.
