NAREDCO Mahi held a real estate meet in the Tamil Nadu capital of Chennai with the goal of empowering women in the state’s real estate sector by increasing women’s leadership representation at multiple levels, compliance, and skills development.
The event included regulators, developers, and women professionals for a panel discussion that included policy alignment, the role of RERA in ensuring transparency, and mentoring women in concept development and planning.
The President of NAREDCO Mahi, Smita Dhanraj Patil, stated, “Empowering women is not only a social good, but an economic strategy as well.”
The Chairman of Tamil Nadu RERA Retd. IAS Shiv Das Meena noted improved development transparency due to the regulatory framework from the state and the need for more cooperation between regulators and the industry.
Chairman of NAREDCO Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, observed that better inclusion of women would add diversity, and catalyze urban development.
A panel discussion, titled 'From Regulation to Realisation', debated ways in which RERA and developers can collectively inspire confidence among consumers through better compliances, sustainability, and good governance.
The need for mentorship and training programs was suggested by speakers to address the wide gaps in gender representation in technical and managerial positions. Potential measures discussed included faster approvals of projects and leadership roles for women in real estate.
The event was supported by GTB as presenting sponsor, Addisia as gold partner, Casa Grande as silver partner, and Alliance Granimarmo as associate partner. NAREDCO Mahi said that the meet encouraged networking and collaboration among women professionals across South India.
Established in 1998 under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, NAREDCO acts as the apex body for India's real estate sector. The women's wing, NAREDCO Mahi, focuses on advancing professional growth and leadership for women in real estate and related industries.
