Elsie Gabriel, the founder of the Young Environmentalists Programme Trust, has been honoured with induction into the prestigious Women Divers Hall of Fame (WDHF) in the United States. Gabriel's remarkable achievements in marine conservation and her commitment to promoting ocean literacy have earned her this esteemed recognition. She joins the ranks of exceptional women divers who have contributed significantly to the exploration, understanding, safety, and enjoyment of the underwater world.

Gabriel, also known as the L'Oréal Climate Champion and National Coordinator of the Oceans Climate Reality Project, expressed her pride upon receiving the induction into the WDHF. She views this accolade as an opportunity to further her efforts in promoting marine biodiversity and conservation. With her newfound recognition, Gabriel aspires to enforce ocean literacy not only in schools and colleges but also during her dives. Additionally, she is passionate about training disabled divers, making the underwater world accessible to all.

Having embarked on numerous diving expeditions worldwide, Gabriel has explored breathtaking underwater realms across the globe. Her dives have taken her to captivating destinations such as the Philippines, Galapagos, Maldives, Jamaica, Australia, and the picturesque coastal regions of India, including Kerala, Andamans, and Lakshadweep. These experiences have fueled her deep appreciation for water conservation, ecotourism, sustainability, and environmental practices. Gabriel's profound concern for ocean pollution drives her mission to involve more women in ocean conservation and raise awareness among Mumbai's student community.

The Women Divers Hall of Fame, founded in 1999, is dedicated to acknowledging the outstanding contributions of women pioneers, leaders, and innovators in various diving fields. It serves as a global platform for promoting careers and opportunities for women in the diving community, fostering a supportive network and facilitating international connections.

Gabriel's work resonates strongly with the Hall of Fame's objectives, as she actively advocates for water conservation, sustainability, and greater female representation in ocean conservation efforts. Through her collaborations with Mumbai students, Gabriel strives to instil a sense of responsibility and environmental consciousness in the younger generation.

With her induction into the Women Divers Hall of Fame, Elsie Gabriel stands as a shining example of dedication and passion for marine conservation. Her tireless efforts to protect the oceans, train divers, and promote ocean literacy make her a deserving recipient of this prestigious honour. As Gabriel continues her journey to safeguard our underwater world, her induction serves as a catalyst for inspiring others to join the cause.
