MS Dhoni Invests in SolarSquare, Joins as Brand Ambassador
By: Women Entrepreneurs Review Team | Tuesday, 21 July 2026
Residential rooftop solar startup SolarSquare has announced that former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni has invested in the company through his family office, Midas Deals, as part of its $53 million Series C funding round. In addition to the investment, Dhoni has also been named brand ambassador of the company, which will further help SolarSquare to drive the growth of residential rooftop solar solutions in India.
B Capital led the round, and it included existing and new investors such as Lightspeed, Lowercarbon, Rainmatter and Good Capital, as well as Mangum LLC. The fresh capital will allow SolarSquare to grow its geographic market reach, deepen its technology platform, increase financing opportunities for homeowners, and customer service capabilities.
Established in 2015 by Shreya Mishra, Nikhil Nahar, and Neeraj Jain, SolarSquare specializes in delivering a complete end-to-end residential rooftop solar solution. The company is responsible for the entire customer journey, including consultation, system design, installation, financing assistance, monitoring and after-sales service. SolarSquare only targets residential customers, making the transition to clean energy much easier and creating savings on electricity bills.
Key Highlights:
- MS Dhoni invests in SolarSquare through Midas Deals and joins as brand ambassador
- SolarSquare raises $53 million in Series C funding led by B Capital
- Startup plans expansion to 30–40 new cities and strengthens residential rooftop solar adoption in India
The company has been one of the biggest residential solar power companies in India, which has set up more than 50 thousand rooftop solar power systems in 29 cities over the years. The new investment will enable SolarSquare to enter another 30 to 40 cities, thereby tapping into a larger market and further deepening its customer base in the booming residential solar sector of the nation.
The company is also looking to invest heavily in its technology platform to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency. SolarSquare will also expand financing opportunities to make rooftop solar systems more available and affordable for homeowners and further enhance customer support capabilities.
Dhoni's investment is another instance of his diversified startup portfolio, which includes a number of ventures across various industries such as technology, mobility, sustainability, and consumer businesses. His role as SolarSquare's brand ambassador is likely to boost the company's presence and bolster consumer trust in rooftop solar installations. His involvement will help SolarSquare's aim of promoting more Indian homes to become clean and green.
This funding coincides with residential rooftop solar being a growing demand as electricity prices rise, awareness of the environment becomes more prevalent and government initiatives are encouraging adoption of renewable energy systems. With the increased demand for sustainable energy solutions, companies like SolarSquare are growing at a rapid pace.
The fresh investment will be channeled into product innovation, recruitment, market growth and ongoing investment in customer-focused services, the company said. The partnership with Dhoni will help SolarSquare establish its position in the residential rooftop solar segment in India and play its part in the transition to clean energy in the country.
