The Madhya Pradesh government has taken a bold step by issuing a notification to provide 35% reservation for women in government jobs, except positions within the Forest Department. This progressive decision seeks to promote women's participation and representation in the state's workforce.

The amendment to the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (Special Provision for Appointment of Women) Rules, 1997, aims to create horizontal and compartment-wise reservations for women. This move is in alignment with the broader national and international goals of gender inclusivity and women's empowerment.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, a supporter of women's rights and empowerment, has championed this cause by not only implementing 35% reservation for women in police and various other government roles but also introducing 50% reservation for women in teaching positions. This commitment to fostering women's participation extends to local bodies, where priority will be given to women, including positions such as aldermen and others.

Furthermore, the Madhya Pradesh government has taken steps to enhance educational opportunities for girls. As part of its efforts, the government will bear the educational fees of girls, ensuring they receive better access to education. This initiative reflects the administration's commitment to breaking down barriers that hinder women's progress and development.

The recent enactment of the Women's Reservation Bill at the national level is also a testament to India's dedication to women's rights and representation. This historic legislation mandates 33% reservation for women in both the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies. It was unanimously passed by the Rajya Sabha and marks a significant milestone in India's democratic journey.

The new law, known as the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhniyam,' signifies a transformative shift towards gender parity in the political landscape. It highlights India's commitment to fostering women's active participation in the decision-making process and ensuring their voices are heard at all levels of government.

In light of these initiatives and legislative changes, Madhya Pradesh has solidified its position as one of India's top 10 progressive states. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently praised the state's efforts, acknowledging its contributions to the nation's growth and development.

The move to provide 35% reservation for women in government jobs is a significant stride towards gender equality and women's empowerment. It reflects the government's commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable society where women have equal opportunities to contribute to the state's progress and development.
