Mountaineer Jyoti Sharma Sets Solo Speed Record on Kilimanjaro

Indian climber Jyoti Sharma has achieved a new world record as the fastest female climber to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro (Uhuru Peak), Africa's tallest peak at 5,895m above sea level. She completed her journey on January 26, 2026, at 08: 18.

The Kilimanjaro National ParkAuthority of Tanzania has officially certified Jyoti's climb alone. It was to specifically show the time of arrival, the date of reaching the summit, and of finishing her ascent, complete with supporting GPS tracking data showing all of the coordinates of her route during her climb.

Jyoti's ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro was completed via the Marangu Route, and incorporated much variation in each of the ecological zones that were crossed over her expedition.

Approximately, there are 930,000 trees within this 2 million tree population of forest area over 6 square kms from Mandara Hut (previous highest elevation) to Horombo Huts.

This expedition was all about discipline, planning, and perseverance and she would like to dedicate this accomplishment to her nation and to those who think it is too late for them to achieve their goals.

Jyoti is also the brand ambassador for LRS Services Pvt. Ltd., and has been doing mountaineering for the last few years. Past climbs that helped her prepare for the Kilimanjaro climb include Sandakphu in 2023, Everest Base Camp in 2024, and Ben Nevis as the tallest point in the United Kingdom in 2025.

Ramadhani Mohamedi Abedi, who was her team leader throughout this trek, recognised all that she endured on this expedition through her determination and hard work.

Upon conclusion of this trek, Jyoti stated that she had climbed in order to make her nation proud, as well as to fulfill her personal commitment to follow her dreams.
