In the lead-up to International Women's Day on March 8, the Sri Sathya Sai District Police Wing in Tirupati has launched a month-long awareness campaign focused on enhancing women's safety. The campaign aims to educate the public about the importance of creating a safer environment for women, addressing issues such as harassment, violence, and discrimination, while empowering women with the knowledge and resources to protect themselves.
Sri Sathya Sai District SP V. Rathna addressed a large gathering of over 2,000 women from various walks of life. She expressed concerns about the rising crime rate against women and children globally in recent years. The speech highlighted the growing need for attention on women's safety and the protection of children.
Rathna also added "Despite the growing opportunities to reduce gender inequality, women continue to face numerous challenges at home, in the workplace, and beyond. To overcome these challenges, women must equip themselves with knowledge and courage at all times. In response, the district police wing will conduct a series of awareness programs over the next 30 days, aimed at educating women about the various forms of crimes against them and providing valuable insights on how to protect themselves from becoming victims of such crimes,"
Former Minister Palle Raghunandha Reddy, Puttaparthi MLA Palle Sindhura Reddy, and other distinguished leaders participated in the event.
