Modi Praises Odisha Citizens for Grassroots Innovation

- Talked about the work of these persons in the field of entrepreneurship and youth-related activities
- Sujata Bhuyan from Sambalpur was talked about for her work in the field of fish farming
On his show on the radio yesterday, PM Modi highlighted the efforts of two odias in assisting to develop entrepreneurship at the grassroots level and to assist in establishing some form of youth participation in policy-making.
Mann Ki Baat included a mention of Sujata Bhuyan of Sambalpur who has created a successful business through the development of fish farming.
She started fish farming in the Hirakud reservoir while fulfilling her responsibilities as a wife and mother, and has grown this business over the years despite the challenges posed by various aspects of running a fish farm (e.g. unfavorable weather conditions, inadequate resources).
The prime minister noted that Sujata's experiences demonstrate the increase in self-reliance and innovative solutions in the fisheries industry among women. Later Sujata shared that the acknowledgment of her efforts by the Prime Minister was a proud moment for her family.
She also stated that the mention of her will motivate her to continue her efforts to assist other women in becoming self-reliant, and that women should pursue self-reliance, and for this purpose, that having a willingness to learn and put in effort is much more important than having a formal education.
While responding to the program, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that Sujata’s development in Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana had made her a role model.
“She is earning around Rs 8-10 lakh in rupees every year with an annual production of 25-30 metric tonnes of fish. The recognition of Rath is also an example of the potential of Odisha’s youth,” said Mohan.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan thanked Modi for recognizing Odisha’s achievements at the national level.
