Mission Shakti's 4th Phase to Focus on Girls' Safety
By: WE Staff | Friday, 13 October 2023
As the fourth phase of Mission Shakti commences on October 14, the Indian government is launching a series of initiatives to enhance awareness among girls about crucial issues like sexual harassment and online trolling. These programs aim to inform girls about the available recourse for addressing such concerns, fostering a sense of empowerment and safety.
The initiatives will employ various methods such as street plays, discussions, and the use of short films. In a significant effort, the government has developed 31 short films that are designed to create public awareness against harassment and exploitation of women within their own homes.
The Women and Child Security Organization will play a pivotal role by organizing screenings of these short films. They will also conduct street plays and discussions, and distribute audio messages to educate and sensitize the public about the sexual exploitation and harassment women face, especially on social media platforms. Furthermore, the campaigns will inform women about the different initiatives and government schemes in place to address these issues.
These programs will unfold during rallies across various localities, including gram panchayats, wards, and Durga Puja pandals, and will run from October 15 to 24. Besides the 31 films, eight distinct themes have been identified for the street plays. To further amplify the message, jingles and theme songs will be broadcast through audio messages.
The goal of this initiative is to inspire women across the state to support the Yogi Adityanath government's programs, raise awareness about crimes against women, and encourage women to speak out against abuse. These campaigns will shed light on laws related to issues like child marriage, dowry, female foeticide, gender discrimination, and child labour, and aim to address these crimes against children and women.
The films will also focus on showcasing the efforts made by the UP Police, highlighting various phases of Mission Shakti that promote women's safety and empowerment. This includes initiatives such as the Safe City project, awareness campaigns, and special efforts by women police officers, all of which contribute to the mission.
In addition to these messages, the films will spotlight the contributions of the women-beat police and the women-beat campaign. They will also highlight the recognition received from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for various campaigns conducted under Mission Shakti. The films will also concentrate on creating awareness about women's safety services provided by Women Power Line through security guards and will address issues such as women trafficking and unethical business practices.
Simultaneously, the street plays will focus on educating girls about the difference between good and bad touch, as well as the potential for harassment by relatives and family friends. Overall, the mission seeks to emphasize women's safety and empowerment, and these campaigns are part of the broader efforts by the Yogi Adityanath government to achieve this goal.
