- Aditi Tatkare, the Maharashtra Minister of Women and Child Development, has issued orders for the quick establishment of an employment hub focused on women
- The Maharashtra Women's Economic Development Corporation (MAVIM) will oversee the initiative's implementation
Aditi Tatkare, the Maharashtra Minister of Women and Child Development, has given clear instructions for the immediate establishment of a women-focused employment hub in Koradi, Nagpur district, under the Maharashtra Women's Economic Development Corporation (MAVIM).
Through skill development and opportunities for sustainable livelihood, this initiative seeks to empower rural women. One of the hub's main features is a clothing training facility that should create 200 jobs for women from self-help groups (SHGs). In order to guarantee regular participation, the center will provide a six-month structured sewing and tailoring training program with timely stipend payments. Tatkare directed officials to launch the center using a single-tender process in order to minimize delays and expedite the project's rollout.
Aditi also assessed a number of additional MAVIM-supported initiatives aimed at boosting women's economic participation in the area during a high-level review meeting in Mumbai. These include a sanitary napkin production unit, an incense stick manufacturing unit that uses floral waste and is expected to give approximately 100 women a monthly income of Rs 6,000–7,000, and a pollution-free Kalamkari and textile processing initiative. These initiatives aim to establish environmentally sustainable jobs with a basis in traditional skills and local resources.
Chandrashekhar Bawankule, the Revenue Minister and Nagpur Guardian Minister, also expressed his strong support for the Koradi projects, stressing that carelessness or delays would not be accepted. He promised that project implementation would not be hampered by financial limitations and threatened to take severe action against any irregularities. In order to keep the initiatives on course, he also urged regular monitoring and prompts reviews.
Deputy Secretary VR Thakur, Chief Manager Ravindra Sawant, MAVIM Managing Director Nayana Gunde, Secretary Dr. Anupkumar Yadav, and other department heads attended the meeting, which demonstrated the state government's strong commitment to women's economic development. These MAVIM programs seek to empower rural women, increase their self-esteem, and enhance the general well-being of the community by providing skill-based training, consistent income, and financial independence.
