Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Madhya Pradesh on May 31 to participate in a special event celebrating the life of Ahilyabai Holkar, renowned for her progressive leadership and social reforms. The empowerment of women will be the main focus of the event.
The Prime Minister is also expected to virtually launch the Indore Metro, which will initially run between Gandhi Nagar and Station Number 3 on the "Priority Corridor," while he is in Bhopal. The metro's commercial launch date is still pending, though. To commemorate the 300th anniversary of the birth of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, one of India's most esteemed rulers, the Madhya Pradesh government is planning lavish celebrations on May 31.
At a high-level meeting on Monday, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav reviewed the Prime Minister's visit preparations and gave the required instructions. On social media, the Chief Minister's office verified that the event would be held at Samatva Bhavan in Bhopal. "Chief Minister Dr. Yadav reviewed the arrangements for Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji's proposed visit to Bhopal on May 31 at Samatva Bhavan, the Chief Minister's residence, and provided essential guidelines," the office stated in a post on X.
Madhya Pradesh will hold its cabinet meeting in Indore at the imposing Rajwada, the former home of the Holkar dynasty, for the first time in a number of years. In keeping with Ahilyabai's governing ideals of justice, welfare, and inclusivity, the event will showcase numerous programs that the federal and state governments have started to empower women.
From 1767 until 1795, Ahilyabai Holkar ruled the Malwa kingdom, and she was praised for her excellent leadership. She spearheaded military operations, supported widows' rights by facilitating their remarriage, and played a key role in the establishment and maintenance of holy sites throughout India.
To commemorate Ahilyabai's legacy, the Bharatiya Janata Party has organized a state-wide campaign from May 21 to May 31. Workers and party leaders will speak to the public about her cultural revival, social reforms, and visionary governance. Along with the government's commitment to progress and heritage preservation, emphasis will be placed on her legacy as a ruler who fostered inclusive development and religious harmony.
