Ganieve Kaur Majithia, a first-time MLA from Majitha who was elected on the Shiromani Akali Dal platform, wants to finish development projects left unfinished by the previous Congress administration.
Ganieve took over as the candidate after her husband, Bikram Singh Majithia, chose to run in Amritsar East against former Punjab Congress head Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Ganieve, who used to be a housewife, deftly took on the challenge of running for office and won with a resounding triumph. She is a mother of two and claims that her husband ensured that all essential conveniences and quality facilities were available to Majitha inhabitants. Ganieve said, “Yet, there are several things that came to a standstill during the previous regime. Unemployment is on a new high and Majitha youth should get their due share in case the government begins a mega recruitment drive."
Ganieve, a graduate of the Jesus and Mary College of the University of Delhi, believes women's empowerment will be her main priority. She also stated that she would seek to increase farmer income since agriculture employs the majority of her constituents.
She added, “Unemployment is alarmingly high and Majitha youth should get their due share in case the government begins a mega recruitment drive.”
