Jagananna Mahila Mart to Financially Empower Women in the State

After inaugurating Jagananna Mahila Mart, a mega market in Krishnapuram Thana here on Wednesday, city MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said it was the vision of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to achieve financial empowerment of women in the state. The Jagananna Mahila Mart is the first of its sort in Tirupati's newly constituted district, and it will be administered entirely by SHG members.

The Mart was established with the help of 37,423 SHG members and Rs 150 apiece from four Town Level Federations (TLF). They raised Rs 55,98,778 of which Rs 40 lakh was put in Super Market and the rest was set aside as a reserve fund.

After inaugurating the Mart, MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, Mayor Dr R Sirisha, Commissioner Anupama Anjali, Deputy Mayors Bhumana Abhinay Reddy and Mudra Narayana, MEPMA Managing Director Vijayalakshmi, Project Director Radhamma said that Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy has been implementing all schemes involving women in the state to uplift them financially and ensure that they are free from financial burden There were corporators in attendance, as well as MEPMA Superintendent Gaali Sudhakar and personnel Krishna Veni, Chandrakala, Swathi, Prameela, and Girija.

Prathima Reddy, the president of the Spandana TLF, expressed her delight at the Mart's establishment, saying that the SHG members themselves were the investors and customers because all of the city's SHG members will purchase their monthly required household goods here, in addition to introducing each member's known persons as customers. She stated that the SHG members' items will be marketed here as well. She stated that following an annual audit, the earnings will be distributed evenly among all investors from the four TLFs in the city.
