The 54th International Film Festival of India kicked off on November 20, with a spectacular ceremony at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Goa's Panaji, signaling the start of a cinematic feast. The evening's attention, however, was on the famous Madhuri Dixit, who received the renowned "Special Recognition for Contribution to Bharatiya Cinema" award.

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur paid homage to the renowned actress, saying, "An icon throughout the ages, Madhuri Dixit has graced our screens with unparalleled talent for four incredible decades. Her flexibility has no boundaries, from the vivacious Nisha to the mesmerizing Chandramukhi, the magnificent Begum Para to the tenacious Rajjo."

The award was given to Madhuri Dixit to commemorate her incredible journey in the Indian cinema business, a journey that has left an everlasting impact on the hearts of millions.

"Today, at the 54th International Film Festival of India, we are filled with admiration as we present the 'Special Recognition for Contribution to Bharatiya Cinema' Award to the talented, charismatic actress who has redefined excellence in cinema," Anurag added. “A homage to an eternal legacy and a celebration of an exceptional journey."
