BCCI announces INR 5 Crore reward for Indian U19 Women's World Cup Champions

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a Rs 5 crore cash reward for the Indian team that won their second consecutive U19 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on February 2 at Bayuemas Oval, Mumbai. Led by captain Niki Prasad, India remained unbeaten, showcasing skill and dominance. They clinched the title with a commanding nine-wicket victory over South Africa in the final, playing with fearless intent throughout the tournament.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) congratulated the India Under-19 women’s team for successfully defending their title at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 in Malaysia. To honor their remarkable achievement, BCCI announced a cash reward of INR 5 Crore for the victorious squad and support staff, led by Head Coach Nooshin Al Khadeer.
Roger Binny, the President, of BCCI, praised the team's unbeaten campaign, emphasizing their exemplary performances. This trophy reflects the growth of women’s cricket in India," he said. India’s top-order batters excelled, with G. Trisha scoring 309 runs, earning Player of the Match and Tournament honors, and taking seven wickets. Spinners Vaishnavi Sharma (17 wickets) and Aayushi Shukla (14) led the wicket-taking charts. India’s victories in the 2023 and 2025 ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cups showcase the Board's strong age-group structure, with a robust domestic pathway nurturing world-class talent and ensuring a steady feeder line to the national team.
Devajit Saikia Honorary Secretary of BCCI extended his best wishes to the India Under-19 Women’s team for their remarkable title defense at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025. He praised their dedication, resilience, and dominance, highlighting their skill, teamwork, and determination. This victory, he noted, reflects the strength of India’s grassroots cricket and the bright future of women’s cricket in the country.
India's spinners dominated, taking nine wickets, with Trisha Gongadi claiming three, as they bowled out South Africa for 82 on a slow pitch. In the chase, Trisha scored 44* off 33 balls, while Sanika Chalke added 26* off 22 balls, guiding India to victory in 11.2 overs. This marked India's second consecutive U19 Women’s T20 World Cup title, following their win in 2023 in Potchefstroom, South Africa. India’s dominant performance underscored the gap between them and other nations at the U19 level, as they became the first team to win the title unbeaten.
BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla congratulated the India Under-19 Women’s team on successfully defending their ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup title in Malaysia. He praised their discipline, determination, and fearless cricket, calling their back-to-back World Cup victories a testament to hard work and perseverance. Shukla added that these triumphs will inspire the next generation of young girls across India to take up cricket and dream big.
