Rupa Bayor, a Taekwondo sensation from Arunachal Pradesh, has been named the 'Best Female Athlete' at the 2025 IT Taekwondo Gala Awards. Her exceptional skill, discipline, and consistent performance in the Poomsae category have brought immense pride to India. She has excelled in international competitions and is ranked among the top 10 globally in Taekwondo.
Rupa secured the India Taekwondo award for her exceptional performance in competitions, earning her top position among contenders. The award ceremony was attended by top Indian sports officials in Taekwondo, national-level coaches, athletes, and dignitaries from various federations.
Rupa has achieved remarkable milestones in her career, making her a trailblazer in Indian sports, specifically Taekwondo. She became the first Indian athlete to win a medal in the Senior 1 category individual Poomsae category at the Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championship. She has consistently excelled in international competitions, including the South Asian Games, Australia Open, and Croatia Open.
Her achievements serve as an inspiration for young martial artists and highlight the growing presence of northeastern athletes in the national sports arena. Her consistent performances have earned her accolades in prestigious events.
