A nonprofit organisation in India called Life Global and Life Global USA raised $500,000 at their 5th Anniversary Gala in Edison, New Jersey.
The event was co-hosted by Amar Shah, the founder and treasurer of Life Global, and Parikh Worldwide Media, led by its founder and chairman Dr. Sudhir Parikh, a recipient of the Padma Shri award and chairman of Life Global USA. Participants learned about the partner organisation Project "Life" India's efforts over the previous 25 years in the areas of primary education, women's empowerment, and Thalassaemia awareness at the event.
Approximately 300 supporters, including board members of Life Global/Project "Life," gathered at Mirage Banquet in Edison, New Jersey, to learn more about the organisation. They also opened their hearts and wallets to support programmes in India that aim to improve education, empower women, and end thalassaemia through various projects run by partner organisation Project "Life" India. The event's most celebrated visitor was the Bollywood actress Asha Parekh.
Dr. Parikh welcomed everyone in attendance, including the members of the Life Global board, and declared at the outset of his speech that he had been an Asha Parekh fan since the 1970s.
“We are thrilled to have among us, a legend of Indian Cinema – Asha Parekh – Thank you so much for making the time for us Asha-ji,” said Dr. Parikh.
“As Chairman of Life Global it is my great pleasure and privilege to extend a warm welcome to all on the 5th Anniversary Gala of this extraordinary organization Life Global and its partner, Project ‘Life’,” Dr. Parikh said.
He focused on the successes and objectives that the 5th anniversary gala was honouring. He gave the examples of expanding 108 primary schools in rural Gujarat and establishing new goals for repairing 121 schools, as well as the goal of empowering 15,000 women by 2025, which began with just 28 women in 2008. The Thalassaemia awareness campaign, which aims to spread nationwide and rid India of this affliction, was also noted by Dr. Parikh.
